Description

A rare Yuebai (moon light) glazed rectangular vase with "bagua" designs, which are often used to determine and predict fortunes during the Song Dynasty. Due to colour and design, there is a high probability that this is a "guan" ware, which meant that it was made for the Song Imperial Court.

Literature

The luxurious styles of the Tang Dynasty were no longer accepted in society as the Chinese art admirers began to have its own renaissance by looking back and and taking from the simplistic styles and colours. The style and shape of this bagua vase are not commonly displayed, as the more common "Cong" of the Song Dynasty and Qing Dynasty imitations have been better preserved.
